Here at MacKID Broomfield, we've been fans of College Nannies + Sitters for well over a year for their flexible, in-home childcare solutions. (Read all about it HERE!) I am able to hop on the MySitters® app, input my babysitting needs, and be able to select from a list of professionally trained and screened sitters. Click, confirm, done. So easy! Break time for mom and dad.
Today, I'd love to share how College Nannies + Sitters is taking things to the next level. They've taken the changing landscape and rebranded to accommodate a parent's new and changing needs. Introducing Jovie: Childcare Reimagined!
The publisher received free services to write this review. All thoughts and opinions are her own.
Nanny shares and learning pods are each areas of large demand today, and Jovie: Childcare Reimagined is ready to help. We caught up with Jovie General Manager, Taylor Beyers-Furst, for a Q&A to lay out the details of how their new model can help families with almost any care needs.
Macaroni KID: Tell us a little about why CNS/Jovie is a choice over the "traditional" way or finding a sitter or nanny share.
Taylor: At CNS/Jovie, our team takes care of everything for you and are with you every step of the way! Everything we offer is customized and safe, so not only will you have trusted care for your children, but we can also adapt to your changing needs as a family. We are fully invested in our employees as well, ensuring they receive ongoing training, coaching and a reliable and dedicated staff to help them hit their employment goals.
MacKID: Can you talk a bit about the transition from CN+S to Jovie, and why this is exciting for families?
Taylor: Yes! We have been around for 20 years serving families with well-trained and vetted in-home childcare. Families continue to work and grow and change, so we are changing with them. We can empathize with the struggles families face while offering real world practical solutions to lighten the load. We’re an entire crew devoted to making your routines better, your family stronger and set up to thrive. We have a new, fun name, but we are still the well-trained in-home childcare you trust and count on.
MacKID: What should a family expect to pay for the convenience and peace of mind of working with Jovie?
Taylor: We bill on an hourly rate that is specific to each family ranging from $28-$40/hour, plus a start up fee for the setup. Nanny shares begin at $40/hour, but this cost can be split between multiple families!
Billing is done on a bi-weekly basis where CNS/Jovie bills the families directly and pays the employees via direct deposit. There is a minimum of 4 hours for each care request for sitter families, 20 hours/week for nanny and nanny share families.
MacKID: Are parents able to "personalize" their provider a bit, based on what they & their children may prefer?
Taylor: Absolutely! As part of the match process, we work with families to discover any requirements and preferences they have for the nanny/sitter providing care in their home.
We are an inclusive team and do not discriminate when hiring for our team, however, we do honor the requests of our customers and employees. For example: if families require the nanny/sitter in their home to be vaccinated, we will take that into consideration when matching the nanny/sitter to their family. If nannies/sitters prefer to only work with families who are vaccinated, we will ensure that is part of their match process, as well.
Taylor also shared an outline for the different routes you can take with Jovie, and how they assist with each choice.
Nanny Share – multiple families share it all – nanny, schedule, activities, etc. This might include families who want their kiddos to complete their schooling from home with a shared educational nanny in a learning pod or families who send their kiddos to school but share in the same activities after school needing assistance with transportation, healthy meals, and homework help.
Nanny Route - some families need one nanny dedicated to their family specifically. We would work with these families to understand their specific schedules, care needs, requirements and preferences and then recruit and hire a nanny specifically for their family.
Sitter Route - some families need safe and reliable help from time to time to celebrate some “me” or “we” time. They will get access to our app where they are able to schedule the reliable care they need.
Direct Hire – some families need the safe and reliable help of a nanny but want to handle the scheduling, employee taxes/benefits and payment directly with the nanny. In these cases, families typically need help recruiting and hiring the right fit for their family. In these cases, we do the recruiting, handle the vetting and then match the family and nanny together, but don’t employ the nanny. We are able to help the family with temporary care while we work to find their match as well as any back-up care that is needed once they begin their nanny match.
Back- Up Care Families – some families have a benefit through their employer who partners with Bright Horizons. Every benefit looks different, and we will happily sit down to families to determine the best way for them to get the most bang for their buck, so to speak. Families often choose to use their back-up care benefit while working with us directly as well.
