Documentary Festival Favorite "147" Comes Home to Boulder on 10/24

"147” follows Boulder runner's 147-mile run to honor son’s long-term NICU stay

Ahead of World Prematurity Day on November 17, one of the region’s rising premature-focused nonprofits 4those is hosting a special screening of its multi-award nominated and film festival favorite documentary on Thursday, October 24 at The Studio Boulder.

Steph Hauser’s son Zev was born at 23 weeks. Weighing just one pound, four ounces, he was given a one-percent chance of survival and even lower odds to thrive. For five months, Stephanie and her husband Ben fought alongside their son in the NICU, and he now lives as a happy and healthy five-year-old at home.

The documentary “147” follows the 4those founder as she takes on a grueling 147-mile run over a 48 hour period, with each mile symbolizing a day her son Zev battled for life in the NICU. As their stories intertwine, Steph’s run and Zev’s fight for survival push the Hauser family’s hope to the limits.

Tickets are on sale now for the only Boulder screening. So far, “147” has been officially selected for the following 2024 film festivals: Winter Park Film Festival, Breck Film Fest, Pike’s Peak docuFEST and the Rocky Mountain Women’s Film Festival, as well as nominated for multiple awards. Each tax-deductible $65 ticket includes local food and drink and an exclusive Q&A opportunity with Stephanie and the filmmakers.

The Boulder community is our family, and it’s so special for us to bring this documentary home to the very place I ran the 147 miles with so many of them,” said Hauser. “Our long-term vision is to build a resource and retreat center here with facilities and programming for former micro preemies and their families after they come home from the NICU. Proceeds from the screening will go towards this unique and incredible place.”

In 2022, Steph founded 4those, providing hope, healing and possibility through events, resources and community for families who have faced the journey of extreme prematurity and the outcomes typically associated with early birth. 4those hosts annual free events for former NICU families with the belief that connecting with others as well as celebrating and honoring the journey in and beyond the NICU helps the entire family emotionally heal. 4those’s annual Parent Care Workshop, facilitated by a licensed family and trauma therapist, creates pathways for healing and prosperity for attendees. The annual NICU Family Day Out is a safe, fun and celebratory place for NICU families to connect.
