Lafayette, CO (September 28, 2020) - Rock Creek Curling is announcing the start of construction on its 30,000 square foot facility that will bring the popular sport of curling to Lafayette, Colorado. Curling is the fastest growing Winter Olympic sport in the United States. Rock Creek Curling will help grow the sport at this new facility scheduled to open its doors in September 2021 at its location on Overlook Drive in Lafayette.
Rock Creek Curling, a family-owned business, was founded in 2019 by a family of curlers who seek to grow the sport and provide more opportunities for athletes to curl in Colorado. Rock Creek Curling’s facility features six sheets of dedicated curling ice in addition to 12,000 square feet of social and meeting space on two levels, including locker rooms, and indoor and outdoor seating with fireplaces on both levels. Rock Creek Curling will offer opportunities to experience, learn and play the sport, including instruction, recreational and competitive leagues, and junior curling programs for athletes ages 6-18. Curling is a popular team-building activity and experience, and Rock Creek Curling is available to host corporate and private events with on-ice experiences designed for groups of all sizes.
Curling is the fastest growing and most watched Winter Olympics sport in the United States, and access to this sport and its unique ice is in high demand in Colorado. The United States is home to over 25,000 curlers and 188 curling clubs, not all with dedicated facilities. Rock Creek Curling will be the second dedicated curling facility in Colorado and the largest within 800 miles. In addition to its regular curling leagues and instruction, Rock Creek Curling will host signature events and competitions that will attract curlers from across the world, further connecting our local community with the sport’s athletes from across the globe.
“The team at Rock Creek Curling is thrilled to be opening in Lafayette and to have the chance to bring the sport we love to Boulder County and the surrounding communities in the north metro area. We believe that curling is a lifetime sport, one that is inclusive and accessible. We can’t wait for the community to come experience curling with us.” -Sean Stevinson, founding team member, Rock Creek Curling
