Macaroni Review: Forest of Light Exhibit at the WOW! Children's Museum

My girls and I recently had the opportunity to explore the newest exhibit at the WOW! Museum, the Forest of Light. We have been huge fans of the WOW! Museum since my oldest was just learning how to walk, so when I heard they were opening up a new sensory friendly exhibit, I couldn't wait to check it out!

From the moment we walked into the exhibit room, my girls were captivated by the ambiance and visual intrigue. The room itself is dimly lit, which helps showcase some of the impressive light features such as the life size "Lite Brite" wall and the colorfully lit kaleidoscope. The dark lighting and quiet setting really set the mood of a forest space, which is very intentional. The entire exhibit has been thoughtfully planned and developed to be a welcome space for all children - including children with autism or sensory processing disorders. WOW! collaborated with occupational therapists and Sensory Friendly Playtime participants to make a fun and beautiful area of the museum that is inclusive for everyone.

I can say that after exploring the exhibit, my girls absolutely loved it. Not only is it peaceful, it's also engaging with plenty of activities for kids. My youngest, a crawler, loved the interactive river that ripples as you step on it. It also has a tunnel to crawl through that leads to the main museum area. My oldest had a blast in the middle of the hanging lights that gently change colors. They both had fun with the tactile features such as the wall of marbles and giant "Pin Art" feature (which seemed to be a favorite among all the kids there).

The Forest of Light Exhibit is definitely worth a trip to see! Kids will love all the new sights and things to touch (which is encouraged!). The exhibit is included in the cost of admission, and it just opened in July. If you haven't had the chance to check it out yet, I would highly recommend it! Click here for WOW! I received tickets to the museum for review purposes, but the opinions expressed here are true and my own.
