I was super excited to try out the Tiggly learning toys for Ipads. As much as I love technology, I also appreciate having a physical element to technology interaction. As soon as my daughter saw the boxes, she asked if she could open them up and try them out. She thought the Tiggly Counts counting bars were “super cool” because they are magnetic and you can hook a bar with 2 holes with a bar with 1 hole to add the numbers together. She really enjoyed being a “chef” with the free Tiggly Chef app. She used the counting bars to add ingredients to her culinary masterpiece.
The Tiggly shapes bring mathematical shapes to life with three free apps: stamp, draw, and safari. My daughter enjoyed using the Stamp app to record videos and tell stories with the characters she created with the Tiggly shapes. You can view one of her masterpieces below:

I borrowed a friend’s 3 year-old to play the Safari app with me. I loved how quickly she picked up on the activity. She giggled every time she stamped a shape and it turned into a different animal. Her mom told me that she loved the activity so much she asked to play it again that afternoon! One aspect that I really like about the shape apps is that they can be played in 8 different languages! What a great way to introduce a child to a foreign language.
Tiggly Shapes and Tiggly Counts come with a soft carrying pouch to make it easy to keep track of the toys and to make it easy to bring them on the go. All of the Tiggly apps are free on the App store and Tiggly Counts and Tiggly Shapes can be purchased locally at Beyond the Blackboard in Arvada.
