Supplies:

  • Cheesecloth
  • Concentrated liquid starch
  • Glow in the dark paint
  • Empty gallon milk jug (or similar)
  • Small, inflated balloon
  • Duct tape
  • Large bowl
  • Spoon
  • Black felt
  • Glue
  • Fishing line
1. Place the neck of the balloon inside the empty milk jug. Attach the balloon to the milk jug with the duct tape.

2. Cut the cheesecloth so that it drapes around the milk jug. For a more transparent ghost, unfold the cheesecloth until it is a single layer. For a more layered ghost, unfold the cheesecloth and then refold into a rectangle.

3.Pour approximately 2 cups liquid starch into the bowl. Add approximately 2 teaspoons glow in the dark paint. Stir well.

4. Dip the cheesecloth into the liquid starch mixture until the cheesecloth is saturated. Gently squeeze out the excess liquid starch.

5. Gently pull apart the cheesecloth and drape it over the milk jug.

6. Allow to dry for several hours or until dry and stiff.

7. Cut out black felt for the eyes and mouth, if desired. Attach to the ghost with glue.

8. String the fishing line through the top of the ghost and tie.

9. For added glow, hang a glow stick inside the ghost.

Have a Happy Halloween!
